Long Covid, also known as post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), is not contagious. This means that if you have Long Covid, you cannot pass it on to others, regardless of the variant of the virus that initially caused the infection, including the Omicron variant.
Long Covid refers to a range of symptoms that continue for weeks or months after the acute phase of a COVID-19 infection has resolved. These symptoms can include fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath, and other health issues.
The contagious period for COVID-19, including the Omicron variant, typically lasts from a couple of days before symptoms appear to about 10 days after symptoms start. This period can vary based on factors such as the severity of the illness and whether the person is vaccinated.
In summary, while the initial COVID-19 infection, including that caused by the Omicron variant, can be contagious, Long Covid is not. Individuals with Long Covid do not pose a risk of spreading the virus to others.
